08/20/16RBMatt JonesShoulderQUESTIONABLEJones worked on the side at Tuesday's practice, CSN Mid-Atlantic reports. "It's feeling pretty good," he said of his left shoulder. "I'm moving fast in my healing process right now. I'm taking big strides."

There have been conflicting reports about the nature of the injury, ranging from an AC joint sprain to a "second degree separation," according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post. In fact, Jones, the running back, has been diagnosed with a second-degree AC sprain. While participation in practice is out of the question for the foreseeable future, his activity on a side field was more focused on his legs than the shoulder, which foretells that the injury is less severe than previously implied. Furthering that belief, he wasn't wearing a sling afterward or appear to be dealing with noticeable pain while sitting at his locker. When Jones was queried about his Week 1 availability, he said he'll "definitely" be available, but only time will tell whether he'll uphold that expectation.

08/09/16WRJamison CrowderHamstringPROBABLECrowder (knee) will not play in Friday's tilt with the Bills.

Crowder has been dealing with a collection of injuries this preseason. He missed practice on Tuesday due to soreness in his knee, and it appears Washington will play it safe and give the wideout the night off on Friday. Crowder will be joined by rookie wideout Josh Doctson (Achilles) on the sideline on Friday, leaving plenty of opportunities for bottom-of-the-depth-chart receivers to make an impact once the starters are taken out.

08/09/16TEJordan ReedThumbPROBABLEReed (thumb) caught two passes for 28 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Friday's preseason game against the Bills.

Reed may have shown some rust with an early drop, but he made up for it by breaking wide open for a 20-yard touchdown in the second quarter. His lengthy injury history is more of a concern than the current issue, as Reed's sprained thumb should be back to full health by Week 1, if it isn't already.

08/05/16LBSteven DanielsShoulderOUTDaniels will miss the 2016 season after suffering a torn labrum during the first week of training camp, Brian McNally of CBS DC reports.

Daniels, a 2016 seventh-round pick out of Boston College, will undergo surgery Monday to repair the injured shoulder. A long road to recovery awaits the 23-year-old, but he'll hope to make a comeback and secure a roster spot in 2017.

07/28/16LBJunior GaletteAchillesNFIGalette will have surgery to repair his torn right Achilles tendon, ruling him out for this season.

Galette's injury was revealed last week, but there remained a small hope that he may be able to avoid surgery and eventually play this year. However, upon since announcing his decision to undergo surgery, Galette can now be ruled out for the entire 2016 campaign, marking his second straight season lost due to an Achilles injury. With Galette sidelined once again, the Redskins will hope Preston Smith can build on his eight-sack rookie season and work with Trent Murphy at Washington's outside linebacker position opposite Ryan Kerrigan.

04/27/16RBSilas ReddSuspensionSUSPENDThe NFL has suspended Redd indefinitely for a violation of the league's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Bans of this variety are due to continued positive tests, which is evident as Redd has yet to serve a four-gamer for a similar violation due to his recovery from a torn ACL and MCL. Once healthy enough to return to the field, he'll have to bide his time and do his due diligence considering NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be in charge of any reinstatement effort.

08/15/16QBCarson WentzRibQUESTIONABLEWentz (ribs) will not play in Saturday's matchup with the Colts.

Wentz suffered a hairline rib fracture in the preseason opener and hasn't taken the field since. His final chance to return will be on Sept. 1 in the final preseason game against the Jets. With Wentz out, Sam Bradford has cemented his role as the Eagles' starting quarterback this preseason and should see a majority of the reps on Saturday night.

08/09/16WRJordan MatthewsKneePROBABLEMatthews, who suffered a bone bruise on his left knee back on Aug. 5, plans to be ready to play in advance of Week 1, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "I promise you I'll be ready for the first game," Matthews declared Tuesday. "I don't like to put percentages on anything, but at the same time, I'm definitely feeling good. I'm doing a lot better. I'm running around, moving, lifting, jumping. I'm back doing pretty much all of that stuff."

Matthews, who is coming off a 2015 campaign in which he caught 85 passes for 997 yards and eight touchdowns, doesn't seem likely to see any preseason action, but the goal here is exercise a degree of patience and caution, with having the wideout available for the Eagles' Sept. 11 contest against the Browns. Upon his return to action, Matthews is set to serve as the team's top wideout, with Nelson Agholor, Dorial Green-Beckham, Rueben Randle, Josh Huff, Chris Givens and Paul Turner all still jostling for slotting on Philadelphia's wideout depth chart.

08/09/16RBWendell SmallwoodQuadPROBABLESmallwood (quadriceps) is slated to take the field for Saturday's preseason game at Indianapolis, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Smallwood missed back-to-back contests to kick off exhibition season, but increasing his workload little by little for two weeks will seemingly yield an appearance Saturday. A cautious approach is expected, though, as the running back's quad continues to heal. All but guaranteed a roster spot due to his status as a 2016 fifth-round selection, he could be relegated to weekly inactives in-season with Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles, and Kenjon Barner all positioned ahead of Smallwood on the depth chart.
