New England at Indianapolis

The last time we saw Peyton Manning on the turf at Sports Authority Field it was before Sunday night's game against the Patriots -- and he was in his civvies.
The Patriots may have lost their first game of the season on Sunday night, but their long-term prognosis to make another deep playoff run remained intact
Doug Baldwin and Markus Wheaton were the surprise contributors Sunday, but Scott White and Chris Towers have more to say about C.J. Anderson and Lamar Miller.
With every loss, the speculation mounts: when will Chip Kelly quit on the Eagles and return to the college game?
Even among the impossible catches that Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. makes look routine, there are those that still leave you amazed.

11/29/15WRDanny AmendolaKNEEQUESTIONABLEAmendola (knee) will not play Sunday against the Broncos, Tom Curran of CSN Northeast reports.

As of Friday night, there was still a chance Amendola would make the trip to Denver with the team, but after being evaluated Saturday, the receiver has been ruled out and will remain back in Foxboro. Amendola suffered the knee injury against the Bills on Monday, and he was limited in practice Thursday and Friday after not participating on Wednesday. With Julian Edelman (foot) out and Aaron Dobson, Brian Tyms, Josh Boyce and Brandon Gibson all on IR, the Pats are currently left with only three healthy receivers heading into Sunday: Brandon LaFell, Chris Harper and KeShawn Martin. All three figure to see expanded roles, with tight end Rob Gronkowski likely seeing even more attention than usual from the Denver defense.

11/29/15CBJustin ColemanHANDOUTThree injured players have been placed on the inactive list by the Patriots for their season opener Thursday night against Pittsburgh. They are running back Travaris Cadet (hamstring), defensive lineman Trey Flowers (knee) and safety Tavon Wilson (quad).
11/29/15LBJamie CollinsILLNESSDOUBTFULCollins (illness) won't play Sunday night against the Broncos.

With Collins having returned to a limited practice Friday, the linebacker -- who last played in Week 8 -- is presumably targeting a return to action next Sunday against the Eagles.

11/29/15WRJulian EdelmanFOOTOUTEdelman underwent foot surgery Monday on the Jones fracture he suffered Sunday against the Giants, and he could return in 6-to-8 weeks, according to Albert Breer of NFL Network.

Breer notes that the recovery timeframe is a rough one, so while it could theoretically allow Edelman to return during the postseason, it's certainly no guarantee. Danny Amendola is expected to get an increase in offensive snaps with Edelman sidelined, while Brandon LaFell, Aaron Dobson and Rob Gronkowski could all see more targets as well.

11/29/15TERob GronkowskiLegLEFTNFL Network's Ian Rapoport maintains that "at most," Gronkowski will miss a week with "a minor knee strain."

Previous reports suggested that Gronkowski was dealing with a bruised knee, but ESPN's Adam Schefter is also describing the tight end's injury as a minor knee strain, while putting forth an estimated timetable in which Gronkowski might miss "a week or two." For now, Gronkowski is not officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles, but his fantasy owners are nonetheless advised to seek out alternate options (such as teammate Scott Chandler) at the tight end position for Week 13 lineups.

11/29/15LBDont'a HightowerKneeLEFTHightower is confirmed to have suffered a sprained MCL during Sunday night's loss to the Broncos, The Boston Globe reports.

Hightower's injury adds to the Patriots' growing list of absentees, but fortunately his sprained knee isn't expected to keep him sidelined for long. While a more definitive timetable for Hightower's return should surface soon, New England may be without their defensive signal-caller Sunday against the Eagles.

11/29/15WRPhillip DorsettANKLEOUTDorsett (ankle) did not practice Friday and is listed as out this week against Tampa Bay.

Dorsett has increased his activity, but hasn't been able to return to a full practice. It's possible he could return next week against Pittsburgh.

11/29/15LBJerrell FreemanRIBSPROBABLEFreeman won't return to Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers due to a hamstring injury, Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star reports.

Entering the contest tied for 19th in the NFL with 74 tackles, Freeman added eight more (six solo) to the ledger before his departure. Considering he was knocked out, the injury likely isn't something to be trifled with, meaning his status should be watched closely in the upcoming week of preparation.

11/29/15QBAndrew LuckABDOMEN, KIDNEYOUTLuck (abdomen/kidney) expects he'll be able to play again this season. "Yeah, very confident. Very confident I'll be able to return," he told TV 4 WTTV in Indianapolis.

Luck made the comments in his first media availability since suffering a lacerated kidney and torn abdominal muscle Nov. 8. Luck says he's picked up his activity, but gave no timetable for when he may be able to return to practice. While Luck's comments are encouraging, there's always a risk he could be shut down if the Colts fall out of the playoff race.
