Antrel Rolle thinks Giants are struggling with passion, emotion
The Giants are 0-2. But safety Antrel Rolle thinks he might have a solution.
The Giants are 0-2 so far this season. Since they play in what has been a rather weak NFC East, this does not mean they’re anywhere near out of the playoff picture.
Besides, safety Antrel Rolle thinks he might have identified one of the major problems for this year’s Giants squad.
“We have a lack of excitement on the sideline,” Rolle told WFAN, via CBS New York. “When I look up and down the sidelines, sometimes we’re in it and sometimes we’re not. I don’t know what the reason is for that. This is a game we love to play. I think [getting that excitement back] is going to take care of a lot, just playing with that extra enthusiasm.”
Of course, that probably isn’t the biggest issue. No, those would include Peyton Manning’s seven interceptions and the fact so far that the running game, with David Wilson’s fumbles and Andre Brown’s injury, has accomplished next to nothing (even bringing in retread Brandon Jacobs had little effect on the team). Plus, the defense is allowing a league-worst 38.5 points per game.
But yeah, a lack of enthusiasm seemingly wouldn’t be a great sign.
“That passion and emotion is also going to carry you over and take care of a lot,” Rolle said. ”We need that. We need that as a team and I think that’s something right now that we’re lacking. We need to find a way to get back to it.”
Still, Rolle remains optimistic. After all, nobody in the division is better than 1-1, and the Redskins also are 0-2 (and probably in a worse spot than New York at this point).
“We’re going to find a way to get back to it,” Rolle said. ”For whatever reason, right now, in all three phases of the game, we’re not in sync. Sometimes things go wrong, sometimes things go right. But we’re not playing consistent football on an all-around basis.”
