Barry Church missed Cowboys practice because of Jolly Rancher
Because a Jolly Rancher chipped his tooth, Cowboys safety Barry Church had to miss practice because of a trip to the dentist.
This year’s training camps have been brutal with plenty of season-ending injuries already occurring, fundamentally changing the makeup of a number of teams.
And then there’s this kind of injury.
Barry church missed practice because of a cherry jolly rancher .. Seriously .. Chipped tooth and needed root canal ...that's a first— Nick Eatman (@nickeatman) July 30, 2013
So, um, yeah.
Here’s the scoop. A few weeks back, the Cowboys safety was slurping happily away on his favorite hard candy when he chipped his tooth. He felt a little pain, but he didn’t worry so much about it, until this past Monday when he said he woke up and the pain in his mouth “was crazy.”
That’s why Church went to the dentist and underwent a root canal that same day, causing him to miss Monday’s practice.
“It’s good. I was numbed up yesterday because of the dentist appointment,” Church said Tuesday, via the Fort Worth Star Telegram. “They didn’t want me to practice [Monday].”
And now, here’s the saddest part of his Jolly Rancher journey. He can’t eat them again until after the season.
“I have to stick to the soft stuff -- Starburst, Skittles, stuff like that,” he said.
Fortunately, the Cowboys didn’t have to place him on the IR list as he rehabs from his mouth mishap.
