Bills DE Mario Williams denies ever contemplating suicide
After his former fiance said he thought about suicide, Mario Williams refuted the story, saying it had been blown out of proportion.
Williams allegedly texted to Marzouki, "No money in the world should leave me with suicidal thoughts” and “There's no telling what I’ll do to myself at this point.” Williams also allegedly told her that he had taken three hydrocodones, a narcotic, during the morning of a game vs. the Patriots to help ease his pain and that he planned to take two more on the plane ride home.
On Monday, Williams denied that he ever considered suicide and said the revelations made by Marzouki were to help win a lawsuit over who owned the $785,000 engagement ring he gave her.
"Obviously it's just a tactic to cover up the point of the whole thing," Williams said, via the Associated Press. "It is what it is. I could really care less. All it is (is) allegations and text messages and what not, whatever information blown out of proportion. I mean, it's completely out of context."
Last week, Marzouki’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, released the text messages allegedly sent to her by Williams and said that Williams experienced “dramatic mood swings” throughout their engagement. Buzbee also said that Williams broke off the engagement during “one of his low points” and after Marzouki declined to reconcile, he filed the lawsuit over possession of the ring.
In response, Williams on Monday said he was fine and that he was “venting” to Marzouki.
"In a moment of anger, I talk about everything, I'll tell you that,” Williams said. “And I don't know too many people who would say they don't. Have you seen any of the notion, me needing any kind of help?"
As for the hydrocodones, Williams said the medicine had been prescribed by the Bills and that he was using it three weeks after wrist surgery.
"Your lawyer's just an extension of you and she agrees to everything that happens," Williams said. "I'm glad to see somebody's true color in their character now than later."
