Bills would rather have Tarvaris Jackson as backup than Vince Young
We figured that, when it was reported that the Seahawks would trade Tarvaris Jackson to the Bills, Vince Young might not be long for Buffalo.

Since Vince Young made his “Dream Team” comments last year -- to be fair, those words were blown out of proportion -- not much has gone right for the former No. 3 overall draft pick.
He was mostly terrible in relief of Michael Vick with the Eagles last season, and he wasn’t much better in the preseason this year with the Bills while trying to learn a new offensive system.
The Bills confirmed as much Monday when they announced they had released Vince Young, and Young wrote in a tweet, “I want to thank the Bills organization for the opportunity and wish the organization and my teammates good luck this season.”
In three preseason games with the Bills, Young completed only 48 percent of his passes for an average of 92 yards per game. That obviously wasn’t good enough for Buffalo coach Chan Gailey. Young threw two interceptions and zero touchdowns, and he recorded a quarterback rating of 48.2. So, pretty putrid, eh?
For a guy who won 30 of 47 games while starting in Tennessee, those days of competence seem to be long gone.
"He has done a very good job, considering the circumstances," Gailey said in June. “He had to come in and try to learn all of that stuff. It is very difficult.
"It would not have been as hard two years ago, but we are in so much more of an advanced stage now than we were two years ago. He is trying to learn what the base concepts are and how we have advanced to where we are today without the benefit of going through the baby steps."
By introducing Jackson, who played decently as the Seahawks starting quarterback last year, to the Bills team as Ryan Fitzpatrick’s backup, the team can have confidence that if Fitzpatrick has to be replaced because of injury or bad play, Buffalo has another competent starter on the depth chart.
The same probably couldn’t be said of Young. Which is why he’s unemployed today.
