Brady Quinn wins competition, contract as Seahawks backup QB

Brady Quinn won the quarterback competition in Seattle and is being signed by the team, according to a league source.

The Seahawks recently dealt backup Matt Flynn to Oakland and worked out Quinn, Tyler Thigpen and Matt Leinart on Monday. After assessing the situation the club decided to sign Quinn.

Quinn spent last season in Kansas City, playing when Matt Cassel was injured, and is a former first-round pick by the Browns out of Notre Dame. Leinart, a former first-round pick himself, played for Seahawks coach Pete Carroll in college at USC, while Thigpen had the more athletic skill set to run Russell Wilson-like read-option plays.
