If you can't beat them, join them.

That's what former San Diego Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer is going to do.

The veteran cornerback, who has spent his entire 11-year NFL career in San Diego, signed with AFC West rival Denver on Wednesday, the team announced. According to Pro Football Talk, Jammer's deal is for one year at the veteran minimum.

"Great team. Great coaches. I'm looking forward to winning a lot of football games," Jammer said, via the Broncos' team website

The Broncos' secondary is now loaded with former first-round picks. In addition to Jammer, whom the Chargers drafted with the fifth overall pick in 2002, the Broncos also have Champ Bailey and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, whom the Broncos signed in March.

Rodgers-Cromartie was the 16th overall pick in the 2008 draft (Cardinals), while Bailey was the seventh overall pick in the 1999 draft (Redskins).

Jammer called the chance to play with Bailey "the most exciting part about" signing with Denver. "I can learn a lot from a guy like Champ Bailey," he said.

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will probably be glad to see Jammer on his team. During the first meeting of the Broncos and Chargers last season, Jammer picked off a Manning pass and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown. The touchdown is the only one of Jammer's career so far.

Jammer had hoped to return to the Chargers, telling U-T San Diego on May 19 that he'd "love to come back" to San Diego. Wearing a Broncos uniform probably wasn't what Jammer had in mind when he said that. Jammer and the Broncos will play at San Diego on Nov. 10.

Denver's getting a durable corner in Jammer. The veteran defensive back has started 16 games in four of the past five seasons and has only missed a total of two games since 2003.
