Browns general manager Ray Farmer opened up his combine press conference with an apology to the team and the fans, taking full responsibilities for sending a text message to the sideline from the press box during a regular season game.
"It was me," Farmer said. "I take full responsibility for myself and my actions. I misplayed the platform."
When asked if he knew that sending text messages was against the rules, Farmer said: "Sometimes -- in my case it's not an excuse -- emotions get the best of you at times."
As a result, Farmer may be facing a multigame suspension, and the Browns could face sanctions that may include a loss of a draft pick or a league fine. An announcement is expected to be made in the coming weeks.
