Cards expect Mendenhall back for opener, shop Williams
The Arizona Cardinals expect to have RB Rashard Mendenhall back for the season opener and have been shopping oft-injured RB Ryan Williams
Williams, a 2011 second-round pick, has battled various medical setbacks, has been the subject of trade talks. Mendenhall, who played for new head coach Bruce Arians in Pittsburgh, was signed to a one-year deal to beef up the run game following his own return from ACL surgery in 2012.
Mendenhall suffered a minor sprain in Saturday night's game but is expected to be ready for the regular season and will likely wear a brace, at least early in the season. In recent days running backs Felix Jones and Delone Carter have been dealt, and more trades for running backs should emerge before 53-man rosters are set next weekend.
