Chargers interview Jimmy Raye for vacant GM spot
The Chargers have begun their GM search by interviewing Jimmy Raye. Expect more interviews to come, says Jason La Canfora.
The Chargers have interviewed director of player personnel Jimmy Raye for their GM opening and are heading out to interview other candidates, according to a league source.
Raye is a strong internal candidate and could replace A.J. Smith, but the process will go through next week. Other candidates include Steve Keim (Arizona), Tom Gamble (SF), Tom Telesco (Indy), Dave Caldwell (Atlanta) and Marc Ross (Giants).

The team could also end up interviewing coaching candidates as well along its travels, the source said. The Chargers have interest in Colts coordinator Bruce Arians and Penn State coach Bill O'Brien, among others, according to sources. The Chargers have yet to formally request permission to speak to coaching candidates but will shortly.
The Chargers plan to hire a general manager before the head coach.
