Chip Kelly calls reports he was going to Cleveland 'erroneous'
Chip Kelly calls reports he was going to Cleveland erroneous.
INDIANAPOLIS -- Chip Kelly held an, um, lively news conference on Thursday at the combine, appearing a little ornery toward the media at first before warming up to the crowd. (Maybe he's still adjusting to the charming Philly media?)
His best line of the day, by far, came when he was asked about reports that he was going to end up as coach of the Browns and responded by paying homage to Vince Vaughn.
"Erroneous," Kelly said when asked to classify the reports. "That's a line from Wedding Crashers."
There was heavy speculation about Kelly landing in Cleveland, with initial reports claiming it was a done deal. Obviously, that was never the case, and Kelly actually returned -- or appeared to return anyway -- to Oregon before circling back around and landing with the Eagles.
Kelly will continue being one of the more scrutinized coaches we've seen in a long time, but at least he's doing solid work in terms of charming folks with his movie references.
