Chris Kluwe makes Aaron Hernandez joke during 'Conan' appearance
When Conan O'Brien asked the Raiders punter how the NFL felt about his outspoken stance on equal rights, Kluwe made a joke.
Raiders punter Chris Kluwe is passionate about several things, including online gaming and his ardent support of same-sex marriage. On Thursday, Kluwe was on Conan to promote his new book, Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies and both topics came up.
When Conan asked Kluwe how the NFL felt about his outspoken stance on equal rights, Kluwe offered this:
"They pretty much just left me alone. As long as you're not out shooting people."
In case you're just back from Mars or just coming out of a coma, former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd. Hernandez is also being investigated as a possible suspect in a July 2012 double homicide.
After the laughter subsided, Conan noted wryly, "It is like you've got a pretty easy bar to clear there."
Kluwe's remarks happen around the 3:30 mark in the video below, which contain some NSFW language. (No surprise, really, given that the title of the video is "Chris Kluwe Turns Swearing Into An Art Form.")
