Colts first-round pick Bjoern Werner out 4-6 weeks with foot injury
Outside linebacker Bjoern Werner, the Colts first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, will miss the next four-to-six weeks after injuring his right foot against Jacksonville.
The Indianapolis Colts will be without 2013 first-round draft pick Bjoern Werner for the next four to six weeks, according to the Indianapolis Star. The rookie outside linebacker suffered a torn plantar fascia in his right foot against Jacksonville on Sunday.
Werner's injury happened in the first quarter of the Colts 37-3 win over Jacksonville and he never returned to the game. "It's a shame it happened, but it’s part of the game," Indy coach Chuck Pagano said.
Although Werner hadn't made any starts yet this year, he has appeared in all four of the Colts games this season, recording four tackles and a half a sack. "He was getting better every week," Pagano said. "He was trending in the right direction. He was getting more comfortable. You could see the confidence level rising."
The Colts have a bye in Week 8, so if Werner's out the full six weeks, he would only miss five games. Indy's next five games are against Seattle, at San Diego, home against Denver, at Houston and home against St. Louis.
