Colts safety Joe Lefeged was arrested earlier Saturday morning in Washington, DC, and charged with multiple gun-related offenses, a police spokesman confirmed to the Indianapolis Star.

More details via the Star:

Lefeged, 25, was in a vehicle with another man when police attempted to stop the vehicle. After an unspecified chase the two were arrested, said Officer Araz Alali, a DC police spokesman.

A handgun was found in the vehicle, Alali said.

The arrest occurred in northeast Washington on the 4200 block of Blaine Street Northeast at 12:05 a.m. today.

Lefeged and Timothy Wilson, 23, will be arraigned Saturday on charges that include carrying a firearm without license, unregistered firearm, unregistered ammunition and presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

“We are aware of the reports regarding Joe Lefeged in Washington, DC," the Colts said in a statement. "At this time, we will have no further comment on the pending matter until we gain more information.”

Lefeged grew up in nearby Germantown, Md., and played at Rutgers. He was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2011, and started four games last season.
