Darrelle Revis: Jets 'just need to shut up' and 'quit talking crazy'
Cornerbacl Darrelle Revis thinks the Jets 'just need to shut up' and 'quit talking crazy to the media' if they want to get back to the playoffs.
Revis, who's missed most of the season with a torn ACL, said at an unveiling of his new Nike Zoom shoe (they're pretty sweet; you can see pictures here) that the Jets "just need to shut up."
"Guys just need to shut up," Revis said, while laughing, according to Kimberly Martin of Newsday.
Being quiet isn't going to solve the Jets problems, of course, but it's at least a decent start. And part of zipping the lips, at least for the Jets, involves not "talking crazy" to the press, particularly when it comes to other members of the team.
"Quit talking crazy to the media, especially involving your teammates," Revis said. "I think that's the worst, because when you do that, that's when it really gets divided. Because you don't know if you can trust your other teammate."
The Jets, at 4-7, are a long shot to make the playoffs. But, and I swear I'm not joking here, they're not dead yet. If they can take down the Cardinals on Sunday, they could be as little as one game back of the AFC wild-card leaders.
Rex Ryan's crew gets the Jaguars, Titans, Chargers, Bills in their final four games, which means winning out, while unlikely, isn't completely out of the question.
In a weakened AFC, 9-7 could very much result in a playoff berth. But if the Jets are serious about making a run, they should absolutely listen to their star cornerback, shut up and get down to the business of playing football.
