Darrelle Revis sick of 'bitter' Jets fans attacking him on Twitter
Darrelle Revis says he's sick of 'bitter' Jets fans attacking him on Twitter.
Darrelle Revis sealed the deal for the Buccaneers on Monday night, helping Tampa get a monkey off their back by winning for the first time in 2013. After the game, Revis got something off his back too: he's tired of Jets fans harassing him on Twitter.
Speaking with Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post, Revis said he gets "harassed every day" by Jets fans on Twitter.
“I get harassed every day on Twitter [by Jets fans], and I barely even tweet," Revis said. "And you just get tired of it."
Revis continued, saying that he particularly doesn't appreciate getting cursed at or hearing death threats, which he's been getting since 2010.
"You’ve got to have a backbone, because guys are saying, ‘F–k you!’ and ‘I want to kill you!’" Revis said. "It’s crazy, but I’ve been getting death threats from them since my first holdout [in 2010]. It’s just bitter Jets fans."
According to Revis, Jets fans are still upset that he's no longer on the roster.
“They’re still not over the fact that I’m not there no more, and they give me crap all the time on Twitter,” Revis said. “If they would understand the business of it and understand what happened, then maybe they would know and maybe they would quit trying to point the finger at me. That’s where it is."
Perhaps Revis' biggest beef with all the vitriol getting kicked his way? Not only did he not control his departure, but he handled everything in a classy manner. And they're still coming at him.
“It don’t help with the record [the Buccaneers have], but at the same time, just let it go. I’m not there no more, Jets fans. I’m not there. When I left, I left with class. I didn’t leave saying, ‘Eff the Jets organization’ or anything like that. You’ve got to move on."
Revis is trying, obviously. Jets fans don't seem willing to let it go though.
