DeAngelo Hall: DeSean Jackson is 'right kind of guy' for Redskins
Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall thinks that DeSean Jackson will be a perfect fit in the nation's Capitol.
Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall was heavily involved in the recruitment of DeSean Jackson to Washington. During Jackson's first night in town on Monday, Hall was part of a contingent that took the former Eagles receiver out for a night on the town.
So as you can imagine, Hall's pretty excited that Jackson will be wearing a Redskins uniform next season.
"He's the right kind of guy we need in our locker room," Hall told USA Today in a text. "Fierce competitor and player, but great guy and humble guy that wants nothing more then to show people the real him. And there's no better place then in the nation's Capitol."
Hall was keeping tabs on everything during Tuesday's negotiations. Just minutes after Jackson agreed to terms on a three-year, $24 million deal, the Redskins corner was one of the first players to congratulate his new teammate.
Someone else who's excited to have Jackson in Washington is new Redskins head coach Jay Gruden. The former Bengals offensive coordinator now has a downfield threat similar to the one he had with A.J. Green in Cincinnati.
"DeSean makes us a better football team," Gruden said in a text message to NFL.com. "When you get a chance to land a player of his caliber, you have to act. Bruce [Allen] and Dan [Snyder] did that. Lets go!"
Allen, the Redskins general manager, was also praised by Hall.
Man I love my team. Unsung hero of the day GM #BruceAllen— DeAngelo Hall (@DeAngeloHall23) April 2, 2014
Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is also excited about all of this. He sent a one-word text message to NFL.com saying, "Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa." That's 12 a's if you're counting.
