It's not every day you heard a head coach say he's "pleased" that his quarterback went 12-for-24 for 89 yards and an interception, but I guess the preseason tends to make coaches nicer and less critical. No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz showed some good things and some bad things in his preseason debut, even if his overall line was pretty ugly.

He fired a nice pass to Zach Ertz after stepping up and away from pressure early in his stint, but later he got jumpy in the pocket and forced a pass that resulted in a pick. He connected with Rueben Randle, had a pass dropped by Ertz, but also took off from the pocket rather than checking down to a wide open running back. Again, good things and bad things.

Still, Pederson was happy with what he saw. "By no means is he perfect or was anybody perfect tonight," Pederson said after the game, per CSN Philadelphia. "But pleased for his first outing and we've just got to continue to work with him on a daily basis and get him where he needs to be."

As for Wentz himself, he seemed pleased with some parts of his day and not quite as pleased with others.

"I thought some plays were made," Wentz said. "There were still some plays that needed to be made that were left on the field. The interception in the red zone is something you never want to do. That ball sailed on me. Overall, there's a lot of good things to build on and as a team, we're walking away with a win, so at the end of the day, that's a positive."

Here's the pick Wentz referred to:

The ball definitely sailed on him a bit, and you can see in the second replay that it happened because he jumped and threw the ball at the same time rather than standing in, planting his foot, and firing. That's the kind of thing where he just needs to get used to working against an NFL rush in his face. It'll take some time, but he has the size and physicality to hold up so long as he doesn't get jumpy.
