Drew Brees knows about negotiations with the Saints under the franchise tag. They're not easy, and they're not fast but they can pay off in a big way.

So when Brees speaks to tight end Jimmy Graham, he probably has good advice. Like "be patient."

"I just told him be patient," Brees told Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com. "Don't get frustrated. Don't take it personally. It's part of the deal and it's hard and ... you just want it to be over. You want certainty. That's the hardest part."

In my humble opinion, we'll see Graham's negotiations play out exactly like Brees did. Brees was given the franchise tag and was not happy about it, making no bones about the situation.

The Saints acted really stubborn despite everyone knowing basically what kind of contract Brees was going to get.

Then, right before the deadline for working out deals with guys on franchise tags, the Saints managed to pull off a massive deal for Brees.

It was something they had to do.

Graham's situation isn't too dissimilar, which is why it'd be a shocker if New Orleans and the tight end didn't work out a deal prior to the July deadline for signing players with franchise tags.

So, basically, Brees advice is spot on.
