Eagles RB LeSean McCoy leaves game with sprained thumb
LeSean McCoy was taken to the Eagles locker room during the first quarter on Thursday to get an X-ray on his thumb.
The team announced that X-rays on McCoy came back negative, but he won't return to action.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, McCoy suffered a sprained thumb. That's good news for the Eagles because McCoy's injury could have been something more severe like a torn ligament.
It's not clear when McCoy suffered the injury, but he did take at least one big hit in the first quarter. On the Eagles opening possession, McCoy was hit hard behind the line scrimmage by Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons, who took McCoy down for a five-yard loss.
McCoy went out for a play after that, but returned on the Eagles next possession, where he caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Nick Foles. Foles threw a short pass to McCoy, who did the rest of the work with the help of three blockers.
McCoy went to the locker room after the touchdown.
