A lot of times, when a player is on a contract that underpays them relative to their skill level, or simply in the final year of their deal, they'll agitate for a new contract. That agitation often involves holding out of minicamp and/or training camp, in a protest designed to motivate management to put forth a new contract offer. There are even players doing this right now, like Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller.

One player in the final year of his deal that's not planning on doing that, though, is Miller's teammate: wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders is headed into the final season of a three-year, $15 million deal he signed with the Broncos during the 2014 offseason. That contract qualifies as one that is both about to expire at the end of the year and one that significantly underpays Sanders relative to his performance level, considering he has caught 177 passes for 2,539 yards and 15 touchdowns through the first two years of that deal. (Those figures rank eighth, sixth, and 19th in the NFL, respectively.)

Still, he is not going to hold out. He's just going to go out there and play, and trust that a deal will get done. The fact that his contract is expiring is not weighing on him at all.

"I don't think it weighs on me," Sanders said, per the Denver Post. "I think it weighs on other people and then they talk about [it] and it's like, 'All right, you're trying to put the weight on me.' If I could just keep my ears closed and not listen to the noise, I wouldn't even know this is a contract year ... For me, it's going to come. If it's meant for me, it's meant for me. But I'm going to keep playing ball because I love to do it."

Sanders is 29 years old, so the next deal he signs will likely be his last chance to truly cash in during his NFL career. It's pretty rare to see a guy in that situation -- especially one that has not been paid huge money so far -- take this type of stance about his contract. He seems to be very self-possessed and confident that good things will come his way. Good for him.
