On the latest Eye on Football Podcast, Will Brinson and Ryan Wilson hand out midseason awards for everything from MVP ( Peyton Manning 's a no-brainer, right?) to the biggest disappointment through the first eight weeks ( Houston Texans ? New York Giants ? Pittsburgh Steelers ? Tom Brady ? CJ Spiller?).
Then there are the biggest surprises, and that conversation starts with the Kansas City Chiefs . But there are also the San Diego Chargers and Philip Rivers (if the playoffs started today -- that would be weird, we know, but for the purposes of discussion, roll with it -- San Diego would be in), as well as the Carolina Panthers , Cam Newton and that suddenly tenacious defense.
The discussion then turns to the Thursday night matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Miami Dolphins . Cincinnati is coming off a 49-9 blowout win over the New York Jets and quarterback Andy Dalton is playing the best football of his young career. Miami, meanwhile, appears to be coming apart at the seams following their fourth straight loss, the last against New England.
So can the Dolphins protect Ryan Tannehill ? Can the offense find a way to get the ball to Mike Wallace ? And will Dalton show up in a nationally televised game?
