In January, Florida running back Jeff Demps had a choice to make. Football or track. He chose the latter. Now, he's ready for his NFL chance.

In January, Florida running back Jeff Demps had a choice to make. He could look ahead to the NFL draft and prepare for a professional football career, or he could train on the track and try to make the Olympic team. He chose the latter.
Turns out that it was a good move for Demps as he won a silver medal as part of the U.S.’s 4x100 meter relay team. Of course, after telling the world he’d stick with track, he wasn’t drafted, but now that the Olympics are over (and you really should check out this post full of titillating Olympic GIFs, courtesy of Matt Norlander), Demps wants to return to football.
Considering Demps rushed for 2,470 yards and 23 touchdowns in his career and that he was considered a dangerous kick returner, Rapoport makes a good point when he tweets this:
Wonder how many teams wish they'd used a 7th on— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 14, 2012
#Gators star Jeff Demps now. Instead, speedster can sign with anyone. Should be interesting
Demps, meanwhile, had a productive trip in London. Though he was originally an alternate and a late addition to the team, he ran in the prelims of the 4x100 where helped the U.S. to an American record time of 37.38 to set up a showdown with the Jamaicans. Although Demps only ran once, he was awarded a silver medal for participating in the prelims.
"I just wanted to come out and have fun and enjoy the moment," Demps said, according to USA Track and Field (via the Orlando Sentinel)."There was no pressure. I was just excited."
Now, he’ll likely find some pressure, trying to land a job and make money less than a month before the NFL season begins.
