Former Jets CB Cliff Harris arrested for third time in 9 days
After showing up more than 90 minutes late to a court appearance in Oregon, former Jets cornerback Cliff Harris was arrested again.
You remember a couple of days ago when former Jets cornerback Cliff Harris was arrested after he was cut by the Jets for getting arrested? Yeah, he’s been arrested again -- for the third time in nine days.
First, he was arrested in New Jersey for allegedly possessing marijuana -- which led to the Jets, who had signed him in January, cutting him -- and a few days later, he was arrested on a domestic harassment charge after getting into an argument with his girlfriend outside a restaurant.
That was last Friday. On Tuesday, he was arrested after he arrived more than 90 minutes late to court to answer the domestic harassment charge, according to KPTV in Oregon.
Here’s what happened, via Fox 12.
A deputy monitoring traffic Tuesday morning at Highway 219 and Highway 210 said he spotted a 1997 Acura passing cars in a no-passing area while going 62 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The deputy pulled the driver over just after 8:30 a.m. and it turned out to be Harris behind the wheel.
The deputy said Harris told him he was already late for his court appearance. Harris was cited for speeding, passing in a no-passing zone and driving without a license.
The deputy said he made a courtesy call to the courthouse to let the judge know Harris was running late. Court workers said they would allow him extra time to arrive.
But Harris still didn’t make it on time. He was scheduled to be there at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, but by 10 a.m. the judge issued a warrant for his arrest. Fifteen minutes later, Harris arrived and was handcuffed.
And thus continued Harris' rough fortnight.
