Frustrated Dolphins fans fill up GM Jeff Ireland's voice mail
Some Dolphins fans took out their frustrations on GM Jeff Ireland, whose contact information found its way to Twitter earlier this week.
Dolphins fans were tired of general manager Jeff Ireland long before Jonathan Martin left the team amid allegations that he was bullied by Richie Incognito. So when Ireland's contact information found its way to Twitter earlier this week, the torch-and-pitchfork crowd mobilized.
One man called Ireland's office and played a version of Radiohead's "Creep" with Ireland-specific lyrics.
Another emailed Ireland his suggestion for the Dolphins' new logo.
And this guy called Ireland's number and just laughed (presumably to keep from crying).
Wow just called the number for Jeff Ireland and its legit, the message left was of me laughing hysterically— Matt Hambrock (@YouzAGayFish) November 13, 2013
Oh, and at least one fan alleges to have signed Ireland up for all sorts of porn.
Ireland's critics might finally get their wish. Last weekend, there was a report that neither Ireland nor coach Joe Philbin would survive the Incognito-Martin situation. And even though owner Stephen Ross publicly supported Philbin in a news conference several days later, Ireland's name was conspicuously absent.
And just in case Ross has second thoughts...
This time around the overhead flying banners for the Fins next home game will say: "Mr. Ross, We Told You So 2 Years Ago: #FIRELAND"— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) November 12, 2013
