Golden Tate claims opponents knew Lions' play calls in all 3 games

The Detroit Lions are winless after their first three games and that might not even be their biggest issue. Apparently, the Lions' offense is so predictable that all three opponents have known the Lions' play calls prior to the onset of the snap.

At least that's what wide receiver Golden Tate told 105.1 FM in Detroit on Tuesday.

"I've had a couple occasions in literally each game where they called out our play, for one, then afterwards been like, 'Hey, we knew what you guys were doing,'" Tate said via Mlive.com. "I don't know how they know, or what film they're watching that we're giving away. That's something we got to go back and watch our tendencies to figure out where we line up or how we line up or what formation or whatever it may be.

"We've got to figure it out because we're clearly giving it away. All three weeks, a player's come up to me and said, 'We knew where you were going to.' That's bad."

After three games, the Lions offense ranks 27th in total yards and 23rd in points scored. They've also turned it over eight times, which is tied for the second highest total in the league.

Against the Broncos on Sunday night, the Lions' fourth-quarter comeback attempt was cut short when Broncos safety David Bruton Jr. picked off Matthew Stafford by undercutting a route.

On Monday, Bruton explained that he knew the play was coming.

"It was just a formation where we knew what was coming," Bruton said, via MileHighSports.com. "They've had a high tendency to show a particular play, especially a wrap-six, so usually the No. 2 receiver sits down about five or six yards with a guy running a dig route right behind it. We were just alert and once I saw the running back chip before his release, I knew what was coming, so I just read Stafford's eyes, broke on the ball and was able to make a play."

That seems to confirm what Tate said on Tuesday, which probably isn't the best news for the Lions. Neither is the fact that the 0-3 Lions have to travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks on Monday night.

Do the Lions have an issue with being too predictable? (USATSI)
