Here's hoping for the best for rookies QBs
Pat Kirwan says there are a few folks you want to see succeed in Week 1.
Things I hope for Week 1:
• There are seven new head coaches in the NFL, not counting Romeo Crennel, and I hope all of them get off to a good start. Of course, they all won’t. This league can be cruel to people who don’t win. What Jim Harbaugh did last year going 13-3 is not the norm.
• I'd like to see at least one of the five rookie quarterbacks get a win and, most importantly, that all of them get through the opener without an injury.
• That Rams running back Steven Jackson gets the satisfaction of playing on a winning team. Jackson has rushed for more than 1,000 yards for seven straight seasons but has never played on a winning team.
• And, finally I hope Peyton Manning returns to his old form and weathers the pressure the Steelers will bring in the opener. Dick LeBeau’s defense has sacked Manning 11 times in the four games they have played and hit him at least another dozen times. Get rid of the ball, Peyton.
The top three-technique prospect in the draft could see his name not called at all
The former Florida football player was expected to be a second-round pick in the NFL Draft
This much is certain: The Browns desperately need a quarterback
The man who signed Romo is happy to see him move on from playing the game
Roger Goodell typically announces all the first-round picks, but he'll make an exception this...
