It hasn't been a good preseason for Jaguars wide receivers so far
The Jaguars wide receiver unit is struggling with injuries.
At some point soon, it won't matter much if Chad Henne wins the Jaguars starting quarterback job or if, somehow, No. 3 overall pick Blake Bortles changes his team's mind about making him the backup for his rookie season.
That's because if Jacksonville's receiver injuries keep piling up, there won't be anybody to throw to anyway.
With Ace Sanders suspended for the first four games of the season and with 2013 team leader Cecil Shorts out for now with a bum hamstring, the Jaguars announced Friday that second-round draft pick Allen Robinson and free agent pickup Tandon Doss also suffered injuries Thursday and will be out for "an extended period of time."
That apparently means at least the next two weeks.
Marqise Lee, the team's other second-round pick, was given the day off Friday, meaning that this was the receiving corps for practice (via the Florida Times Union): Allen Hurns, Mike Brown, Kerry Taylor, Chad Bumphis, Lamaar Thomas and Nathan Slaughter.
The combined career catch total of that group: 56 receptions.
The Jaguars, I imagine, are ready for those injured receivers to return.
