Jaguars LT Luke Joeckel carted off field with leg injury
Days after the Jaguars traded their old left tackle to the Ravens, their new left tackle suffered a bad-looking injury.
After trading Eugene Monroe to the Ravens, the Jaguars moved No. 2 overall pick Luke Joeckel from right tackle to left tackle this week in order to continue his development as the team’s blind side protector of the future.
Late in the first quarter against the Rams, though, Joeckel injured what appeared to be his right foot or ankle, and he had to be carted off the field. Reportedly, Joeckel could not put any weight on his leg after he was rolled up on, and the team has announced he's out for the game.
"Luke is going to do a great job. I have all the confidence in the world and this team's got all the confidence in the world in Luke playing the left side," Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert told reporters this week. "But it's going to be a change. We're going to have to get a lot of reps in practice to catch up on the missed time."
Cameron Bradfield has replaced Joeckel. Almost immediately after Joeckel left, Gabbert threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
In other early-round left tackle news, No. 1 overall pick Eric Fisher was inactive for the Chiefs on Sunday.
