Jared Veldheer to have surgery for torn triceps
Raiders offensive tackle Jared Veldheer will have surgery on his torn triceps and could miss the rest of the season as a result.
Veldheer, a criminally underrated offensive lineman, suffered a torn triceps and will have surgery on his arm the team announced Wednesday.

Presumably Veldheer will miss the remainder of the season with that injury.
It's quite possible that the offensive lineman is placed on the Injured Reserve but hit with the designation to return.
Veldheer could then return as early as the Raiders ninth game, although you'd have to think Oakland, unless they're dramatically outperforming their preseason expectations (Pete Prisco had them winning two games before the Veldheer injury was announced), wouldn't want to rush the tackle back.
The team, however, is "holding out hope" that he can come back in 2013.
Veldheer IR candidate. Will miss significant amount of time but Raiders holding out hope right now he is back sometime this season— Vic Tafur (@VicTafur) August 14, 2013
The injury's a real stinger for Veldheer too, as he was about to enter a contract year and had spent the offseason beefing up. That contract status could result in the tackle, who graded out as Pro Football Focus' eighth-best left tackle last year, trying to return in order to make a push for a new deal and show he's healthy.
Regardless, the grim reality of Oakland's season should really be setting in now.
