Jim Irsay 'planning' on attending NFL owners meeting in Atlanta
Jim Irsay is 'planning' on attending NFL owners meeting in Atlanta to help pitch the Colts attempt to bring the Super Bowl back to Indianapolis.
Jim Irsay was conspicuous by his absence at the 2014 NFL owners' meetings in Orlando, after recently getting arrested for DUI and charged with four felony counts.
He'll be there the next time the group of owners meet, however.
"Jim's planning on being at the meeting," Colts CEO Pete Ward said. "Every owner of the franchises whose city is bidding has a chance to talk for five minutes, so he plans on talking to the ownership. He's very excited about the bid.
"He has become increasingly more active in terms of lobbying and just keeping tabs on how things are going."
Irsay entered into treatment following his arrest; Ward didn't comment on where Irsay was or whether he'd completed that treatment.
Indy already has the combine every year, but after building Lucas Oil Stadium the city was awarded the 2012 Super Bowl. It was a tremendous success and it's pretty unlikely that Irsay's state of being will heavily impact whether or not the city can bring the big game back.
It certainly won't hurt if a refreshed Colts owner appears and speaks before his fellow owners.
