John Mara wants New York Super Bowl redux already
Giants owner John Mara said he already wants the Super Bowl back in New York and New Jersey.
The New York Super Bowl hasn't happened yet but Giants owner John Mara's already looking for another one.
Mara, speaking with ESPN Radio in New York, said that he expects to have another New York-New Jersey Super Bowl at some point.
"Based on everything that's happened so far, yes," Mara said. "If we can be assured that we'd get the same cooperation from all the different government entities that were involved, which has been tremendous so far, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't consider doing it again."
Of course there's still the matter of the actual game getting played, you know? But Mara believes once the rest of the league's owners check out what Met Life Stadium can offer they'll want to come back again.
"I think that when the NFL owners that are here, when they leave MetLife Stadium tonight after this game, I'm pretty confident that most of them will say to themselves that it was a great idea to have this event in this area, New York and New Jersey, and why not come back here again," Mara said. "It's good for the league."
New York's about as high profile as it gets for a Super Bowl and there's no question that if this even gets pulled off successfully that it'll be a huge boost for the league.
The NFL rarely doesn't get what it wants (today it's getting wonderful weather in New Jersey) and if the NFL wants another Super Bowl in the New York-New Jersey area, it's going to get another Super Bowl in the New York-New Jersey area.
