The Dallas County District Attorney's been going hard after Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent, who was thrown back in jail after failing a drug test recently.
But Brent was set free Sunday morning after a court order gave him his release, Dallas County Sheriff's spokeswoman Carmen Castro told the Dallas Morning News.
Brent was freed on a bond after being charged with intoxication manslaughter stemming from a Dec. 8, 2012, accident that killed his teammate Jerry Brown.
A June 19 drug test that showed a positive test for marijuana resulted in Brent heading back to jail on June 27.
Brent's next court date looms on July 19, and it doesn't sound like Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins has any interest in taking it easy on Brent.
"Addictions are very hard to overcome, and we see this on a daily basis," Watkins said recently. "And so this is par for the course. Obviously, Josh Brent has an issue with alcohol, and you just can't one day decide that you're going to stop using it. So I think he's struggling with that. So I'm not surprised with the outcome of what's going on with this case; I just hope that at the end of it, justice will be served for Mr. Brent and the citizens of Dallas County."
