Kam Chancellor is one of the NFL's most physical defenders. In Thursday night's preseason game, the Seahawks safety met his match in Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott.

This was Elliott's debut, though you wouldn't know it to watch him steamroll his way through the Seahawks secondary. When it was over, Elliott had seven carries for 48 yards, and even showed off his blocking skills on a play best remembered for Tony Romo suffering a back injury.

After the game, Chancellor admitted to being surprised by the former Ohio State star's physicality, starting with the very first collision.

"I was, because there was no film on him, so I didn't know if he was going to juke or whatnot, so I was a little surprised, but not the second time," Chancellor said, via ESPN. "The second time, you know I'm bringing that wood. I was a little surprised the first time, but he's got a lot of courage for that. I'll give it to him. But if it was a full game, it would have been a bloodbath.

"He lowered his shoulder the first time, and I commend him for that. But I was just out there having fun. I was just taking on the challenge. I love a challenge. I love a good fight."

Chancellor was flagged a few plays later for a late hit on Elliott following an incomplete pass.

"It wasn't no flag," said Chancellor, who insisted he wasn't trying to send the rookie a message. "It was going straight to him, and somebody tipped it at the last minute when I'm already about to hit him, so I can't see where the ball landed. I'm going to have to appeal it probably, and they'll see what I'm talking about."

Here's what else you'll see: The Cowboys appear to have found themselves another offensive weapon. Added bonus: Elliott gets to run behind the best offensive line in the league. Now if only the Cowboys can find a way to keep the 36-year-old Romo upright.
