LOOK: Roethlisberger returns after leaving with shoulder injury

UPDATE 11:40 p.m. ET: Ben Roethlisberger returned to the game to attempt a last-ditch comeback drive with the Steelers trailing 16-15 with under two minutes to go.

Original story: With the Pittsburgh Steelers leading the division rival Cincinnati Bengals 15-0 late in the third quarter, Ben Roethlisberger dropped back to pass. It was already third down and 18 yards to go from the Steelers' 17-yard line, and Ben was sacked by Vontaze Burfict for a loss of 12 yards.

On the play, Roethlisberger's shoulder was driven into the ground by Burfict, and he remained down on the field before eventually being helped off. Check out the hit in the following two shots:

That's not good. Big Ben exited the game and was eventually carted off into the locker room with that shoulder injury.

While he was being carted off, Bengals fans tossed garbage at him, which wasn't too nice a thing to do.

Ben was replaced in the game by backup quarterback Landry Jones. He returned to the sideline midway through the fourth quarter but Jones remained in the game for the ensuing drive. The extent of his injury is not known at this time.
