Mariano Rivera honorary captain for Giants on Monday night
Mariano Rivera was an honorary captain for the Giants on Monday night and handled the kick return duties.
The Giants, sitting at 0-6 heading into Monday night, badly needed some inspiration. So why not trot out some celebrity for a a little pregame action ahead of their matchup with the Vikings?
That's exactly what they did by calling in the ultimate closer, Mariano Rivera, to handle coin toss duties.
Rivera, seen above and below with Tom Coughlin and Giants owner John Mara, will spend the game in Mara's box.
"He's passionate," Mo said of Mara, per Kim Jones of the NFL Network. "He reminds me of The Boss."
And then there's this casual G.O.A.T. sandwich with Michael Strahan in the middle.

Rivera rocked an Eli Manning jersey before the game. Hopefully he had a little advice for the Giants quarterback about not hitting the other team when he throws.
