Remember when the lockout was supposed to cause a bunch of lockouts? Yeah, that didn't really happen, and the 2012 offseason's seemed much more arrest-y. Or arresting. Whatever, the point here is that the latest name in the news is Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, who arrested for suspicision of DUI over the weekend.
A Santa Rita sheriff's department spokesperson tells the San Jose Mercury-News that the man known as "Beast Mode" was pulled over on suspicion of DUI.
Danny O'Neill of the Seattle Times tweeted that he's confirmed the news as well, noting that Lynch was pulled at 3:42 a.m. (PT?) on July 14.
This isn't Lynch's first run-in with the law: Lynch, who was traded to the Seahawks in 2010 and just recently signed a new contract with Seattle this offseason, had his license revoked in 2008 and was suspended for three games in 2009 by the NFL after a misdemeanor gun possession.
That means that depending on the outcome of this case, Lynch could potentially end up facing another suspension from the league.
"We are aware of the situation with Marshawn Lynch and are still gathering information," the Seahawks said in a statement.
Though Lynch was arrested over the weekend, the news didn't emerge until Monday night. Making this tweet from Golden Tate just a little bit awkward.
I need to reevaluate my team! Some people seem to have a negative influence.— Golden Tate (@ShowtimeTate) July 17, 2012
