Mike and Maurkice Pouncey wore 'Free Hernandez' hats
Mike and Maurkice Pouncey went out on the town wearing 'Free Hernandez' hats.
Both Dolphins lineman Mike Pouncey and Steelers lineman Maurkice Pouncey went to the University of Florida, and both twins were teammates with former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. Mike was his roommate.
So it's no surprise that they support the tight end, in prison after being arrested and charged with murder and denied bail.
But it is a bit surprising they would wear "Free Hernandez" hats out on the town.
Hernandez might be their boy, and he is certainly "innocent until proven guilty" (as he should be). But the "Free Hernandez" look is still the opposite of the kind of attention that the Pounceys probably want.
But they did appear to mug for the camera a bit while rocking the hats, so ...

It's not the end of the world to have the Pounceys photographed in what appear to be homemade hats that support their friend. But they were present at a questionable 2007 incident in Gainesville, Fla., that featured Hernandez as well. And, if things keep trending south for Hernandez the way that they have the past few weeks, it's unlikely the Pounceys will want to keep being photographed with those lids on.
