Packers WR Greg Jennings (groin) inactive for Thursday night vs. Bears
Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings is out for Thursday night's game between the Packers and Bears.
Greg Jennings -- star Packers wideout, free-agent-to-be and friend of Pro Football 360 -- won't be on the field Thursday when the Bears and Packers square off.
Jennings suffered a groin injury during Green Bay's loss to the 49ers on Sunday and had been listed as doubtful for most of the week.
He was never expected to play and, ultimately, Mike McCarthy ruled him out shortly before game time. Jennings becomes the first major casualty of the Thursday-night schedule; it's reasonable to think he would've recovered in time to play at least part of the game were it being played on Sunday.
In his place, James Jones will get the start and Jordy Nelson will serve as Aaron Rodgers' primary target. The Packers struggled to move the ball when Jennings was hurt last year, and things won't be particularly easy against a dangerous Bears defense.
Randall Cobb is also someone to watch for Green Bay: the Packers lined him up all over the field during Week 1 and he saw a slew of targets. With his ability to break big plays, Rodgers could view him as an extremely potent weapon with Jennings sidelined.
In the early season meeting between the Bears and Packers in 2011, Jennings caught nine balls for 119 yards, including a slew of them on the Packers' first drive. In 2010, Jennings picked up six catches and 115 yards in two games against Chicago.
Needless to say, the Bears don't mind seeing him miss the game.
