Manhertz effectively replaces former Panthers tight end Scott Simonson, who was cut last week to make room for Young. The Panthers brought in Young heading into the Saints game to fill in for injured cornerbacks James Bradberry and Robert McClain, both of whom are expected to be back after the bye.
Manhertz previously played college basketball at Canisius College before signing with the Saints. He made two starts this season, but didn't record a catch.
