The Patriots have been in the news a lot this offseason. Signing Tim Tebow and releasing Aaron Hernandez will do that. However, now the team is in the news for a non-personnel-related reason: the Patriots have changed their logo.

The team introduced a new, bolder logo on Wednesday.

The day before the Fourth of July might not be the best time to drop most of the white from your red, white and blue logo, but that's what the Patriots did. As you can see above, the new logo (on the right) features a solid blue typeface instead of the white typeface that the old logo (on the left) had.

The Flying Elvis emblem has also made a move, from the top of the "P" on the old logo to under the "RI" on the new logo. Another change features the lettering: If you've never been good at cursive, you'll probably enjoy the new logo, which features block lettering.

The logo change won't affect the team's helmet.

It's been a busy offseason for NFL teams modifying their logos or jerseys. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers and Cleveland Browns are all teams that have modified part of their logo or jersey this offseason. Now you can add the Patriots to that list.

The new logo is nice, but it's no Pat Patriot, whom you can stare at longingly below.
