PHOTO: JaMarcus Russell has lost 51 pounds
JaMarcus Russell, a former first overall draft pick, admitted earlier this year that he was 'heavier than normal,' but he has dropped a lot of weight since recommitting himself to football.
If nothing else, give JaMarcus Russell credit for actually trying. After playing his way out of the league, the former first overall pick is giving this whole football thing another shot, and this time he seems legitimately motivated.
Naturally, everyone was skeptical when they heard about the comeback attempt, even when Russell announced last month he was down to 265 pounds. Then, in early June, the Bears brought him in for a tryout. And there's a chance other teams could be interested.
Which is why this new-look, svelte Russell is an encouraging sign.
