Raiders LB Kaluka Maiava charged with assault in Hawaii
Raiders linebacker Kaluka Maiava and his brother Ilima, relatives of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, have been charged with assaulting two men in a bar fight in Hawaii.
Oakland linebacker Kaluka Maiava is facing an assault charge in Hawaii stemming from an incident that occurred only four days after he signed with the Raiders in March.
According to the Associated Press, Maiava and his brother, Ilima, are charged with assaulting two men during a brawl at a Maui bar on March 17. The brothers have been charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal property damage and will be arraigned July 25, according to the AP.
Maiava signed a three-year, $6-million deal with the Raiders on March 13 after spending the first four seasons of his career with Cleveland. The former 2009 fourth-round pick started 13 games last year for the Browns.
Maiava is related to wrestler-turned actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
"He's not quite my uncle. His mom and my grandpa are cousins, or something," Maiava told the Cleveland Plain Dealer in October.
