Rams sign first-round picks Tavon Austin and Alec Ogletree
The Rams announced the signing of all seven of their 2013 draft picks on Thursday. That haul includes two first-round picks: wide receiver Tavon Austin and linebacker Alec Ogletree.
The St. Louis Rams locked up all seven of their 2013 draft picks on Thursday, the team announced. That haul includes No. 8 overall pick Tavon Austin, a wide receiver, and 30th overall pick Alec Ogletree, a linebacker.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Austin and Ogletree both signed five-year deals.
Austin becomes only the second top-10 pick from the 2013 draft to sign a contract so far. The Lions signed fifth overall pick Ziggy Ansah to a five-year deal back in mid-May.
Austin has been showing off playmaking skills during the Rams OTAs, including a punt return on Tuesday where he faked punter Johnny Hekker so bad that Hekker faked an injury to save face.
Besides Ogletree and Austin, the Rams also signed safety T.J. McDonald, wide receiver Stedman Bailey, center Barrett Jones, cornerback Brandon McGee and running back Zac Stacy.
McDonald and Bailey were both third-round picks, Jones was a fourth-round pick and McGee and Stacy were both selected in the fifth round. All five lower-round draftees signed four-year deals, according to the Post-Dispatch.
Bailey and Austin played together at West Virginia last season, combining for 228 receptions, 2,911 yards and 37 touchdowns through the air. Bailey accounted for 114 of those catches, 1,622 of those receiving yards and 25 of the touchdowns.
