Rams WR Stedman Bailey suspended four games for PED violation
The NFL announced on Monday that Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey has been suspended for the first four games of 2014 regular season.
St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey has been suspended for the first four games of the 2014 season after violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances, the league announced Monday.
Bailey, a 2013 third-round pick out of West Virginia, caught 17 passes for 226 yards last season in his rookie year with the Rams. Going into his second year with the team, Bailey was becoming a more vital part of the Rams offense.
According to NFL Network, St. Louis was aware of Bailey's pending suspension before the NFL Draft, however, that didn't change the team's draft plans. The Rams took a total of 11 players in the draft -- including Michael Sam -- but they didn't take any wide receivers. St. Louis seems to feel comfortable with its receiver corps, a group that includes Tavon Austin, Chris Givens, Brian Quick, Austin Pettis and the newly signed Kenny Britt.
Bailey is eligible to play in all preseason games, he's also allowed to practice with the team from now until the preseason's over. The 23-year-old's suspension will begin just before Week 1 in September and Bailey will be eligible to return to the Rams' active roster on Oct. 6.
