Report: 'Bad vibes' on Rob Chudzinski's job status in Cleveland
According to a report there are "bad vibes" surrounding Rob Chudzinski's job status in Cleveland.
Well here's a stunning coaching rumor: Rob Chudzinski, first-year coach of the Cleveland Browns, might not be completely safe when it comes to his job security. Or at least there are reportedly "bad vibes" surrounding Chud's status in Cleveland.
Chud's led Cleveland to a 4-11 season in his first year at the helm. That's obviously not good but he's working at a disadvantage, considering Jason Campbell/Brian Hoyer/Brandon Weeden are his quarterbacks and Willis McGahee is his leading rusher. (Of course, Trent Richardson, who played two games for the Browns, is their third-leading rusher.)
Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland reports Sunday that Chud might not be safe moving forward
Grossi also -- accurately -- describes the potential news as "incredible."
There are some bad vibes indicating uncertainty about the future of #Browns HC Rob Chudzinski. Incredible.— Tony Grossi (@TonyGrossi) December 29, 2013
The Browns defense has been fairly good this year although they've struggled down the stretch. Josh Gordon's developed into one of the best young wideouts in the NFL and a lot of that's a credit to Chud.
However, Chris Mortensen of ESPN also notes that the front office isn't happy with how the team unraveled over the second half of the season. Additionally, Albert Breer of the NFL Network notes that there's a concern with "a lack of decisiveness in big moments" for Chud that concerns the front office.
Yes, that seems a little absurd. No more absurd than canning a guy after his first season, though. Breer does note that Bill O'Brien (currently of Penn State) and Josh McDaniels (currently of the Patriots) could be candidates for the opening if Chud's removed.
Every year there's a surprise coach who loses his job. If the "bad vibes" continue it could be Chudzinski.
