Report: Bengals DE Sam Montgomery arrested for speeding
A couple months after the Bengals signed him as a free agent, defensive end Sam Montgomery was reportedly caught going 89 mph in a 55 zone.
Defensive end Sam Montgomery was given a second chance this offseason when he was signed by the Bengals, only one year after he was drafted in the third round by the Texans and then released by them after playing zero snaps last season.
Early Wednesday morning, though, Montgomery was arrested and charged with speeding after police said, via Fox Carolina, he was clocked going 89 mph in a 55 mph zone near Clinton, S.C.
Police said Montgomery could be arrested in that circumstance.
Reportedly, Montgomery was cut by the Texans because he was caught with marijuana -- his agent denied it -- and there were reports that he was out of shape.
"Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has shown an ability to inspire the discarded (FYI: Pro Bowl linebacker Vontaze Burfict) and he relates extremely well with young players looking for their way," Butch Hobson of bengals.com wrote when Cincinnati signed Montgomery.
