Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith was arrested on Monday morning in Kansas City and cited for operating with a vehicle with a BAC of .08 or more, according to KCTV5.com. Smith was arrested after he crashed into a light post at an intersection after trying to make a left turn. The crash broke the light post.

According to the police report obtained by KCTV, the Chiefs corner declined medical attention. He also mumbled statements that police couldn't understand after the crash, which occurred around 12:30 a.m.

Smith was eventually taken into custody and charged with suspicion of DUI, careless driving and driving without proof of insurance, according to the Kansas City Star

The Chiefs released a statement on Tuesday regarding Smith's arrest. "We are aware of the situation involving Sean Smith," the statement said. "Whenever one of our players is involved in an incident like this it is disappointing. We will have no further comment at this time as this is an ongoing legal matter."

Kansas City media noted that Smith was dropped down the depth chart on Tuesday. The corner, who started 15 of 16 games last season, took snaps with the second team at OTAs, according to the Kansas City Star

Smith originally signed with Chiefs in March 2013 after four seasons with the Dolphins.
