Report: Dashon Goldson could face suspension for helmet-to-helmet hit
Buccaneers S Dashon Goldson was fined $30K for a Week 1 hit, and now, according to a report, he could be facing a suspension for a hit to Saints RB Darren Sproles.
It took one week for safety Dashon Goldson to make his presence felt in the Buccaneers secondary. Signed to a five-year, $41.25 million contract in the offseason after six seasons with the 49ers, Goldson has shown that he will hit anything. And while that philosophy serves as a warning to would-be pass catchers, it has also caught the attention of the league office.
Goldson was fined $30,000 for a Week 1 hit to the Jets' Jeff Cumberland (he also took out Jeremy Kerley), and now, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, he could be facing a suspension for his helmet-to-helmet hit to Saints running back Darren Sproles.
Goldson has drawn 15 personal fouls since 2010, more than any other player in the league. The Bucs haven't been much better. In their two losses to start the season, Tampa Bay committed 23 penalties for 220 yards, worst in the NFL.
